Welcome to FlashcardForge!

This guide will walk you through the basics of creating your own flashcard decks and finding new ones to study. Let's get started!

Creating a New Deck

FlashcardForge offers two ways to create and store your flashcard decks: Cloud Decks and Local Decks. You can choose the one that best fits your needs.

1. Cloud Decks (Recommended)

Cloud decks are saved to your FlashcardForge account. This is the best option for most users because your decks will be synced across all your devices, and you won't lose them. You must be signed in to create a cloud deck.

  • How to Create: Click on the Create Cloud Deck link in the main navigation.
  • The Process: Once you are on the deck creation page, you can give your deck a title and an optional description. Then, start adding cards by filling out the 'Front' and 'Back' fields for each flashcard.
  • Saving: When you're finished, click the save button. Your deck will now be available in your dashboard under "Your Decks".

2. Local Decks

Local decks are saved directly in your web browser's storage. They are perfect for quickly creating a temporary deck without needing an account. Warning: These decks are not synced and will be permanently lost if you clear your browser's cache or data.

  • How to Create: Click on the Create Local Deck link in the main navigation.
  • The Process: The creation process is identical to cloud decks. You'll add a title, description, and your flashcards.
  • Accessing: Local decks will also appear in your dashboard but will be marked to indicate they are stored locally.

Finding Decks on the Exchange

Don't want to create your own decks? The Flashcard Exchange is a public marketplace where you can browse and acquire high-quality decks made by other users in the community.

  • How to Access: Simply click the Flashcard Exchange link in the navigation bar.
  • What to Do: You can search for specific topics or browse through different categories to find decks that suit your learning goals.
